MYCORRHIZAE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When should I apply mycorrhizae?

You can apply mycorrhizae during transplant with Big Foot Gold and Big Food Granular. If you are looking to apply mycorrhizae-fungus to existing potted plants or gardens, our Big Foot Concentrate and Big Foot Gold both can be mixed with water and applied as a solution.

Can you use too much mycorrhizae in your plants?

NO! There aren’t any negative effects to your plants or your soil if you use more then the suggested amount of Big Foot Mycorrhizae. However, over-watering plants with any additive can lead to the soil and the plants’ roots not receiving enough oxygen.

How often can I use mycorrhizae on my plants?
Early and often. You can apply all our mycorrhizaes every 2 to 3 weeks. Often it takes about 10 days for the mycorrhizae to start colonizing. The other beneficial ingredients in Big Foot will help with plant growth and mycorrhizal colonization as well.
Can I use mycorrhizae with edible plants?

Yes! Mycorrhizal fungus works with your plant’s roots to increase the nutrients and water your fruits and veggies receive. Your plants will be hardier and more drought-tolerant with a mycorrhizal-inoculated rootbed.

Do I have to use mycorrhizae only during transplant?

You can apply mycorrhizae fungus as a water-in application. Big Foot Concentrate is a water-in mycorrhizae that works great in potted plants, gardens, greenhouse grows and houseplants.

Can I use mycorrhizae with other fertilizers?

Because mycorrhizae creates a symbiotic relationship with your plant’s roots, your plants will actually take up more of the soil’s nutrients and water – including anything you add into your soil like fertilizer.

What is the shelf life of mycorrhizae?

The shelf life of Big Foot Mycorrhizae has been shown to still be viable after 5 years of correct storage, although we hope you use Big Foot Mycorrhizae before that to see the amazing growth it can provide to your plants!

Can I use mycorrhizae on succulents and cactuses?

Yes! Endomycorrhizae forms with cactus and succulent roots to increase water uptake.

Will Big Foot Mycorrhizae change the pH balance of my soil?
The Big Foot product line has a pH of around 6.5 and won’t affect your soil’s pH by any measurable amount.
